UnionPay payment system has signed an agreement with a local BSN bank to open a new payment option in the country - UnionPay QR

The launch of this initiative is scheduled for the first half of 2025 and is an important step in expanding digital payment opportunities in the country. As part of the collaboration, BSN will join the UnionPay network as a participant, expanding its payment offerings to include UnionPay alongside existing platforms such as Visa, Mastercard, and MyDebit.

BSN, one of the leading debit card issuers in Malaysia with over six million cards in circulation, is adapting its services to meet the growing demand for digital and contactless payment solutions. By integrating UnionPay QR payments, BSN aims to provide customers with the ability to make secure and seamless transactions both domestically and abroad.

Similar to Visa, Mastercard, and the MyDebit platform, payments will be available to the bank's cardholders. It is specified that the service is designed for a young audience, because they most often use QR payments in the country and in Asia as a whole.
