The new rules will strengthen competition in the market and differentiate offline and online gambling at the legislative level

Dutch Minister of Legal Protection Teun Struiken said that the government is working on updating the gambling policy and plans to present it to the House of Representatives in March next year.

The current Gambling Law has led to strong competition in the Dutch online market, which has created "undesirable financial incentives" in the sector. The current legislation is based on the policy adopted as early as 2011.

"By March 2025, I will send my vision of the future development and goals of gambling policy. I will include considerations on competition in the market in it," - Theun Struiken.
The gambling tax is also being promoted. The law decides on this measure. The report warns that the tax reversal will lead to significant losses for online operators and is likely to lead to the closure of the Holland Casino branch.
