The authorities plan to tighten federal control over the sector

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has begun studying the need to adopt a new law on online gaming, according to anonymous officials quoted by local media.

The main concern of the government is that offshore gambling platforms are luring players out of winnings by manipulating the results of games. According to the newspaper's sources, failures in the current system have led to several large companies being investigated by central agencies for defrauding Indians.

One of the officials reported:
It was decided that the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Center (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs will prepare a report on the discussion of the need to adopt a new law on the regulation of online gaming, gambling, betting and lotteries.
